Exercise: Nozzle Exit Velocity

Exercise:

Nozzle Exit Velocity

Gases produced during the combustion of a fuel-air mixture, enter a nozzle at 200 kPa, 150oC and 20 m/s and leave the nozzle at 100 kPa and 100oC. The exit area of the nozzle is 0.03 m2. Assume that these gases behave like an ideal gas with CP = 1.15 kJ/kg·K and \( \gamma \)= 1.3, and that the flow of gases through the nozzle is steady and adiabatic. Determine (i) the exit velocity and (ii) the mass flow rate of the gases.
