Relations for Reversible Processes of an Ideal Gas

The relation \(PV^\delta\) connects the variables \(P\) and \(V\) of any kind of reversible process undergone by an ideal gas. The exponent \(\delta\) takes various values according to the nature of process:
where

\(\delta\) = 1, for isothermal process
\(\delta\) = 0, for isobaric process
\(\delta\) = \(\infty\), for isochoric process
\(\delta\) = \(\gamma=C_P/C_V\), for adiabatic process, and
\(\delta\) = some value, for polytropic process.
