• LPG: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is the term applied to certain specific hydrocarbons and their mixtures, which exist in the gaseous state under atmospheric ambient conditions but can be converted to the liquid state under conditions of moderate pressure at ambient temperature.

LPG consists mostly of propane and butane. This is because it is easily liquifiable. Using \(\ce{C1}\) and \(\ce{C2}\) will lead to high pressure requirements reducing the ease of transportation. Butane does not vaporizes below 0\(^\circ\)C, whereas propane vaporizes down to -42\(^\circ\)C.
